Does Romance Still Exist?

Good evening readers!
It is truly amazing how a society has evolved in a matter of a decade or two. The internet has taken over America and the world. Computers rule our work place as well as our personal lives. The world wide web has truly become a world wide event, nothing short of a catastrophic invasion. We live and breath technology and are consumed by it. New Media has even ventured as far as to take over the deepest and most impactful of all human emotions - love! New Media web 2.0 applications such as AIM, Myspace, Facebook, true, match.com, woome, e-harmony and other sites have reconstructed the way individuals meet and communicate with eachother. For my term project, I will be analyzing the way New Media has overthrown cupid. On the subway the other day, I came across a clever new advertising strategy by Dentyne that encourages people to 'make face time' by having clean, fresh breath, although I also believe the advertisement gives old symbolic references to how the past used to be in terms of romance and communication before the internet existed. Enjoy the video and please feel free to post or email me comments.

What is New Media?

Hey everyone,
-My name is Sanjay. I am a 20 year old junior at Baruch College in Manhattan, NY. I am majoring in Finance and I have a strong interest in economics and the way budgets are planned. In my very limited free time I enjoy working out, bowling, handball, basketball and various other sport related activities.
-I have created this blog to explore an era that has almost crept up on us masses. As we all know the future has become digital. Wikipedia, a user created encyclopedia, has become a significant source of data, Facebook continues to grow past 100 million members as this proves the desperate sociological need of individuals, and the good ol' days of radio, television, books andand chivalry have begun to crash down upon us. The age of new media is upon us.
-New Media is quite an ambiguous term that is quite difficult to explain. It can also be very broad or specific pertaining to a specific innovation or describing an entire decade. As time passes, the term is constantly rerouted to different technological advances and inventions and the 'New Media' label is stripped from their predecessors. The term can be described as a 'hand-me-down' shirt that is constantly being passed down from generation to generation. I believe that new media is an invention or idea in the area of technology that makes it more convenient, accurate, or efficient to process, send or receive information. For example, a GPS navigation system is considered new media because it is an invention that has made peoples lives more convenient when compared to the traditional navigation system of map-reading. Facebook is also considered new media because it allows individuals to easily keep in contact with friends and family without having to pick up their phone. It is a great convenience to many
and will continue to dominate this market segment for years to come.
